The Greeting Committee...

The ten Beagles and I arrived in Los Angeles today and was I surprised by the greeting committee when we reached our destination. Shannon, the President of The Beagle Freedom Project, greeted me outside the van and explained that the many cameras and people in the front yard were there to film the Beagles' arrival, and that several of the volunteers would be approaching the van to receive a Beagle to take into the rear of the house. I was introduced to a couple of Hollywood film stars and we began unloading ...

Eight Puppies ...

Poor thinking on my part. Eight puppies means that eight puppies pooped and peed in the bathtub. All night. And eight puppies were all poopy and nasty this morning when I woke up. So my day started with me quickly bathing eight puppies as I put each one individually into their kennel, then cleaning out the bathtub before I could even take my own shower. My irritation was pretty quickly set aside as I told the story to Paul and he proceeded to belly laugh at the scene he was imagining. I am sure it was a comical sight, if you were not the one up to your elbows in puppy poop!

Lori French was born and raised in Kansas, where her imagination grew as wild and free as the prairielands. Among her many talents, she has been a Legal Secretary, Coffee Buyer, Traffic Safety Officer and, obviously, a Pet Transporter. Waggin' Rides is her debut book, written due to her adoring friends and family who thought the stories should be shared. She loves scuba diving, traveling and just about anything having to do with animals. She is the mother of two amazing young men and is currently owned by one dog and one cat.

From the Author

As a child, I challenged my parents on what must have been a continuous basis. After a day spent exploring the outside world around me, I would bring home turtles, lizards, toads, snakes, baby mice, or any other creature that caught my eye and I was able to capture. Thrilled with my catch, I would hurry home to show my mother where she would proceed to scream at me to "get that thing out of my house!" Never understanding that it wasn't that particular "thing" she wanted out of the house, but it was ALL of the "things." Things that are not human didn't belong in the house!

At an early age, I not only fell in love with all of the "things" around me, but also books. When I had read through our set of Encyclopedias, I convinced my mother to take me to the library where I could choose from a mountain of books. Many times, I took home a collection of Psychology textbooks. I still remember watching my mother as she looked at what I had chosen, shaking her head. What a strange daughter she had!
With Waggin' Rides, I enjoyed sharing a variety of my experiences as I fulfilled a Bucket List item (traveling across all of the contiguous 48 United States). A crazy idea for a business, dreamed up during a brainstorming session that not only fulfilled my passions of caring for animals and humans, but of travel. Being able to follow my heart allowed me to pay the bills, and it gave me a much more rich and satisfying human experience.
